Pearl Jam - Man Of The Hour

Tidal waves don't beg forgiveness
Crashed and on their way
Father he enjoyed collisions; others walked away
A snowflake falls in may.
And the doors are open now as the bells are ringing out
Cause the man of the hour is taking his final bow
Goodbye for now.

Nature has its own religion; gospel from the land
Father ruled by long division, young men they pretend
Old men comprehend.

And the sky breaks at dawn; shedding light upon this town
They'll all come ‘round
Cause the man of the hour is taking his final bow
G'bye for now.

And the road
The old man paved
The broken seems along the way
The rusted signs, left just for me
He was guiding me, love, his own way
Now the man of the hour is taking his final bow
As the curtain comes down
I feel that this is just g'bye for now.

....Just beautiful....

Thank you very much.

As the sky breaks at dawn - shedding light upon this town
they'll all come round

This reminds me of a dream
where there was a dark forest and in the middle of it
a little place, where the trees had been cut.

Suddenly there came an oil from heaven
shedding light
(like the dawn)
this oil - this light flew in the deepest corners of that dark forest
and one a sudden
poor people with wounds in their hearts
miserable creatures
as you looked at them
they did not longer hide in the dark forest
but they followed this oil
and came to the light
to have their hearts healed
by this oil and warm light

Thank you very much.

shedding light upon this town
"light" and "this town"
reminds me of a book cover of a lovely and thoughtful book with the title: Jesus Christ is coming soon
this books has made am impression on my mind - and the photo with the dawn light on the town - reminded me: always to be ready
whether life time on earth comes to an end at the dawn time or in the evening or at midday time: always to be ready

Thank you...
Father ruled by long division, "young men they pretend"
"Old men comprehend"
That reminds me of my maturation when reading your poems on fading tear and of a rhyme
"Kinder rennen
Eltern warten
Alte gehen in den Garten (garden)"
that rhyme means:
"children run,
parents wait,
oldies never are too late" (English version)
that means that they know the right time, when to do things or when to wait - just wise

Thank you for the poem, Ruben

Nature has its own religion; gospel from the land
Father ruled by long division

some days ago I just spoke with a friend of mine about nature and religion. "Nature has its own religion" that's the case when you see the beautiful creation - how everything is made by God, the creator. Though there are so many evil things in this world - nature is a part of heaven.

"gospel from the land" - I knew an old man who did his walking over the field nearly every day. As I asked him why he would go every day the same way, he said: this is may path of confession. This place of nature I like so that it inspires me to talk with God and say him my failures. So a sermon in church can impress us deeply but the "gospel from the land" has its own way of speaking to us.

This reminds me of the land-scape photo of September 13, 2005 it made an impact

Ruben

I have just reread the whole poem and now I think I understand:

It's a farewell poem to his father who has died

"Tidal waves don't beg forgiveness
Crashed and on their way"
He reminds being at the shore with his father and now the waves of forgetting come along

Father he enjoyed collisions; others walked away
His father never regressed when their were collisions...
he wishes to be like his father...
and not cowards like the others

A snowflake falls in may.
His father like a small snowflake which falls in May and melts

And the doors are open now as the bells are ringing out
The doors of the church are open and the bells are ringing

Cause the man of the hour is taking his final bow
Because they take father to the grave

Goodbye for now.
and he says "good bye" to him but also "for now" because he knows that there will be good rememberance afterwards

Nature has its own religion; gospel from the land
Father ruled by long division, young men they pretend
Old men comprehend.
ok now I comprehend
(comprehend better this poem)

And the sky breaks at dawn; shedding light upon this town
They'll all come ‘round
Cause the man of the hour is taking his final bow
G'bye for now.

At the dawn - some lovely moments where the sun is shining red -
they all come and say good bye to his father

And the road
The old man paved
The broken seems along the way
The rusted signs, left just for me
He was guiding me, love, his own way

He paved the road for his son with all the things which could help him, even if they are now rusty and broken - nevertheless: all this are rememberances
He was guiding him, in love, his very own way but a good way

Now the man of the hour is taking his final bow

As the curtain comes down
I feel that this is just g'bye for now.

Well, when reading the last verse I felt how to cry, how nice that you wrote the following words beneath that meaningful poem:

A nice Sunday to you, Ruben.

I just read the biblical verse for today:
Psalms 62,9 in German and a German song:
http://daily-message.de/archiv/archiv774.php

I will translate it to you in English:

Psalms 62
A psalm from David for Yeditune:
to be sung
My soul is quiet unto God -
my God who helps me

Cause he is my shelter, me help and my security
that I may not sink into the deep pit
even if I may fall
how deep it may be

O man, how long are you running after o n e man
that you want to kill him...
him, being like a broken wall and falling stones

They only are thinking
how they can hinder me,
are eager in lying,
give good words
but in their hearts they curse me.

But my soul - only be quiet before God
he is my hope
He is my shelter, my help and my security
that I may not fall

From God comes my grace, my glory,
he is the rock of my power
my hope is in God

Verse 9 for today:
In all ways put your trust in him, dear people,
pour out your heart in front of his presence
God is the trustful goal of our hope

Men are nothing
great people also fade
their weight is less than nothing
even if they are great in number

Don't trust in the evil nor in lye
don't be a cling to idle things
if you gain money,
don't hang your heart unto it

God has spoken a word
that I have heard several times:
only God is mighty and powerful
and you, oh God are merciful
and you only pay
according to our deeds

And here is the translation of the song as mentioned above:

Walk within the loving grace of God, walk under his blessing...
go with His peace in Your heart...
whatever you intend to do...

Walk under the loving grace of God, listen attentively
to his whispering voice,
stay close and near to him,
whether day whether night.

Your old hours, your old days
you are leaving now behind...
but not without hesitating...
because they are common to you...
like clothes that you like most
because you have worn them in sadness and happiness...

Walk under the loving grace of God...

Now come new hours and new days...
hesitating to climb into
Will the new time - will it fit me?
Or is it too big or too small?

Walk under the loving grace of your God...

These good wishes, these good words
shall accompany you in every step you do...
but the top point
of all wishes
can't be beaten
and is for you
as follows:

Walk under the loving grace of your God,
his blessing might be upon your heart,
whatever you will or want to do.
Walk under the loving grace of your God,
and listen to his whispering words,
stay in His presence, under His eyes
and this in all times -
whether awake or asleep

New Hopes And new days have come. After the storm which devastated me And new hopes wanted to navigate by which now I exist. The sad dreams left in a quiet and calm sea. Old fears have disappeared because the sorrow didn't insist by the change of attitude. Now I don't wait by that which before I felt. I wait for releaf by this labyrinth of company. And with that, with that joy I release myself. And I don't want to turn back, not to the shades of the tombs, not to the shades of feeling, But to turn over for the new dawn, the moment has come, I plan to leave all the deep sadness which fade in the enormous sea, the sea of forgetting
